One balance powers everything. Chat costs 1 credit per turn (one question and its answer). Tools cost credits per run, and each tool shows its exact cost before you run it.
Your monthly plan credits refresh at the start of each billing cycle, so they are meant to be used that month. Top-up credits you buy separately never expire and stay in your account until you use them.
A plan is your monthly subscription that refills your credits each cycle. A top-up is a one-time pack of extra credits for a busy month. Top-ups unlock once you are subscribed, and those credits never expire. If you run out every month, upgrade your plan; if it is a one-time spike, top up.
