Payouts
Payouts are how you receive your earnings from AI Short sales. SellerShorts uses Stripe to process payments and distribute your share of each transaction securely and reliably.
Overview
A platform fee applies to each AI Short purchase. Payouts are processed once you connect your Stripe account and earnings clear the hold period, then appear as Available in your payouts dashboard.
Revenue split
- Your earnings: Displayed after fees in your payouts dashboard
- Platform fee: Shown in-app; covers hosting, processing, and support
- Stripe fees: Handled by the platform (no deduction from your earnings)
- Currency: All transactions in USD

Not Started
- Status: No Stripe account connected
- What you see: "Set up payouts" button
- Action needed: Connect Stripe account via onboarding flow
- Earnings: Accumulate but can't be withdrawn
Action Required
- Status: Stripe account exists but needs additional information
- What you see: "Continue in Stripe" and "Open Stripe Dashboard" buttons
- Action needed: Complete required verification or documentation
- Earnings: Continue to accumulate but payouts are on hold
Active
- Status: Fully verified and ready for automatic payouts
- What you see: Balance information, recent transfers, payout schedule
- Action needed: None – payouts process automatically
- Earnings: Available for withdrawal and automatic transfer
Stripe onboarding process
- Click "Set up payouts" – Redirects to Stripe onboarding
- Create Stripe account – Provide business/personal information
- Verify identity – Upload required documents
- Add bank details – Link bank account for transfers
- Complete verification – Wait for Stripe approval
- Return to SellerShorts – Payout status updates automatically
Hold period and clearing
Order hold period
- Duration: A short hold period follows order completion
- Purpose: Protect against disputes and chargebacks
- Status: Orders show "In Hold" during this period
- Clearing: Orders become "Available" after hold period
Available balance
- Definition: Earnings from orders that have cleared the hold period
- Transfer eligibility: Can be withdrawn or automatically transferred
- Display: Shows in your payouts dashboard
Pending balance
- Definition: Earnings from recent orders still in hold period
- Transfer eligibility: Not yet available for withdrawal
- Next clear date: When earliest pending orders will become available

The payouts page shows your current financial status:
Find your next payout
- Open the payouts dashboard
- Check the next transfer date and any minimum balance shown
- Resolve any Stripe verification flags (use “Open Stripe Dashboard”)
Balance information
- Available balance: Ready for withdrawal
- Pending balance: Still in hold period
- Next clear date: When next batch of orders clears
- Total lifetime earnings: Cumulative earnings across all time
Recent transfers
- Transfer date: When payout was processed
- Amount: How much was transferred
- Status: Processing, completed, or failed
- Orders included: Number of orders in the transfer

- Refresh status: Update payout account information
- Open Stripe dashboard: Access full Stripe account details
- View transfer history: See detailed payout records
- Update bank details: Change payout destination

- Orders clear – 14-day hold period expires
- Balance calculation – Available earnings are calculated
- Transfer creation – Stripe transfer is initiated
- Bank processing – Funds move to your bank account
- Completion notification – You receive confirmation

Payout delays
- Stripe verification – Complete any pending account verification
- Bank account issues – Verify bank account details are correct
- Minimum threshold – Ensure your available balance meets the displayed minimum
- Holiday schedules – Banking holidays can delay transfers
Failed transfers
- Bank account closed – Update to active bank account
- Incorrect details – Verify routing and account numbers
- Account restrictions – Contact bank about receiving business payments
- Retry process – Failed transfers are automatically retried
Missing payouts
- Check Stripe dashboard – Verify transfer status in Stripe
- Review bank statements – Transfers may appear with different names
- Contact support – Get help tracking specific transfers
- Processing time – Allow full 7 business days for completion

- 1099 reporting – Stripe provides tax documents for US sellers
